[Theoretically, having two flower shops open next to each other would mean some level of competition or bad business but for Aerith and Vash it's actually more helpful than anything else. They specialize in different kinds of plants so they have different kinds of customers. Plus, Aerith is over at Vash's store just as often as he's at hers to swap care tips. Today, she's visiting with a sad looking little flower and an equally sad expression.

It only takes her a little time to present him with the potted plant and tell him her woes. Aerith's expression carries genuine worry for the flowers.]

Do you think you can help them? You're always so good with Angel Orchids.

[Vash's shop--well, Rem's originally, but she passed it on to him long ago--specializes in leafy plants and cacti rather than flowers. They have a few flowers, but not as many as Aerith has in hers next door. Vash enjoys his friendship with Aerith, and has had his share of talking-to's from Knives about spending too much time chatting with her.]

[When Aerith approaches him with the orchid, Vash offers her a sympathetic smile and a very soft tone of voice.]

Yeah, of course. You can leave them with me for a while, I'll have them back to you before the day is over.

[Vash's green thumb comes from still being an alien in this AU, and it's not like he can just...do alien things in front of people.]

[Vash's sympathy puts a relieved smile on Aerith's face.]

Thank you, it means a lot to me.

[She shifts her weight from one foot to the other before leaning across the counter towards Vash.]

How has business been for you? It's been quiet on my end with the cold weather. Zack insists cold weather is the perfect time to buy flowers but I don't think anyone is thinking about flowers when it's so dreary out.

[Vash laughs a little and turns away for a moment so he can put the orchid on the counter behind him.]

Well, can't say it's been much different over here. Out of all the places to stay inside from the weather, I don't think a couple of flora shops are people's first choice. I'm sure Zack means well.

[He looks out the window where no one is walking by, and motions towards it with his hand.]

At least it's not raining?

[Aerith makes a soft humming noise, eyes following Vash's gesture.]

You're right. It's just the wind for now...

[When Aerith turns around she spots a display of plants she hadn't noticed before. She walks over to them.]

Are these new?

[Vash nods with a smile. When Aerith turns he gets out his phone to check the weather.]

Not seeing rain for a couple of days, so-- [He stops and leans over the counter to get a better look at what Aerith is looking at.] Oh! Yeah, we just got those in. Kni wanted more succulents, so I said we should set up a beginner display, might bring more people in, y'know?

[Aerith is picking up tiny pots with tiny succulents in them to look more closely at them.]

They're adorable, Vash.

[Unsurprisingly, the one that seems to have drawn her in is a succulent that closely resembles a flower.]

I'm sure when the weather clears up you'll have plenty of new customers. Which kind is your favorite?

[Vash chuckles and comes out from behind the counter to look over the display next to Aerith.]

That's a question, huh? Let's see...

[He looks over all the little guys in their little pots. He's been taking care of all of them personally, so he feels a bit of a bond between him and all the small plants before him.]

It's hard to choose, but this one catches my eye the most.

[He holds up a little Liveforever in a red pot.]

[The Liveforever gets a soft "ooooh" out of Aerith. She moves closer to Vash to take a better look.]

I can see why this one is your favorite, it's beautiful...if I didn't know better I'd be surprised it's so easy to take care of.

[Vash nods and turns the pot around to get a good 360 degree view of the little plant. He then moves it a little closer to Aerith so she can get an even better look at it.]

Yeah, looks can be deceiving. These are super hardy, they'll grow just about anywhere. Makes for a good starter.

[She does take a moment to really get a good look at it, gently touches the edge of the leaves where the color changes.]

Mm...well, I might have to bring my wallet over here when I come back. I'm thinking about taking one of these home with me.

[Aerith looks up at Vash again with a warm expression.]

Not that I need more plants, but, it's hard not to bring them home when they're so cute.

[She sighs a little, finally pulling away from the display.]

I should get back to work...should I come by later for the Angel Orchid or will you come over with it?
