[Kuroko isn't a regular at this café by any means, not being a fan of coffee and all, but this is where he's ended up today instead of at his usual fast food hang-out spot. He's got a vanilla bean frappucino which he's, admittedly, enjoying quite a bit. It's not a milkshake but it's close.]

[And so here he is, sitting alone at a two-person table in a crowded café. As time goes on, tables fill up, and now Kuroko's table is the only one with a spot left. Considering his lack of presence and track record with two-person tables, he's expecting someone to unknowingly accompany him anytime now.]

[Haruhi needs a break. School is exhausting, literally and figuratively, and while she can't normally afford to buy herself a coffee she really needs one today. Black pour over coffee is, at least, pretty cheap compared to one of the fancy drinks.

It's so crowded in here...there's so few places to sit...Haruhi considers for a moment asking for her coffee to go but if she leaves she'll risk running into one of her many distractions in the library doing anything but studying. Luckily, there appears to be an open spot at a nearby table! She sits down with her cup of coffee and goes to take a sip of her drink.]

[Yep, there it is. A visitor. He waits a moment before saying anything to her, intending to wait until she's done sipping her coffee. The last thing he wants is to scare her into spilling it. He sets down his drink whenever she does.]

Hello.

[Haruhi jumps. Who in the world--how did this guy get here without her noticing?? The coffee nearly ends up on the table, but instead Haruhi gulps too quickly and starts a coughing fit.]

H-Hello??

[Kuroko feels a little bad every time something like this happens, and especially this time with her coughing like that. Again, not an unusual reaction, he's had people nearly choke on their food before, but it's unfortunate.]

[He nods towards her and then glances around the café around them; it's absolutely packed.]

I think you got the last seat in here. Congratulations.

[Deadpan as his tone is, he means it. Also he drinks some more of his frappucino.]

[How is he being so casual?? Where did this guy come from????]

Ah--

[Haruhi looks around. He's right. There are no other open tables.]

I...see. I'm sorry, were you sitting here already?

[Kuroko nods again, appearing totally unbothered by the happenings here.]

Yeah, I've been here for a while.

[He's honestly surprised it took as long as it did for someone to unknowingly sit across from him.]

[This is the strangest day...]

Ah. I'm not sure how I didn't notice....

[Haruhi has not taken another sip of coffee. She doesn't know what to do here.]

[Kuroko is unbothered by this, not upset, exasperated, or surprised by his guest's admission.]

It's okay. This happens pretty often, actually.

[Kuroko takes another sip of his drink very casual-like. His frappucino is melting slowly but surely in an icier way than milkshakes do. He misses milkshakes.]

[Haruhi makes a face.]

That's weird.

[It is busy though.]

Do you mind if I sit here? There really isn't any other space right now.

[Kuroko nods.]

Sure, stay as long as you want. I don't mind.

[He ponders over what to say next, if anything. He figures it's been a bit of back-and-forth without any introductions, so he starts off.]

I'm Kuroko.

I'm Fujioka. It's nice to meet you.

[Seems like it's finally safe enough to take a sip of coffee...]

I won't be here long. I'm just taking a short homework break so you'll have your privacy back as soon as I'm done with this cup of coffee.

[Haruhi flashes Kuroko an apologetic smile.]

[He gestures his point by wiggling his mostly empty cup in his hand.]
